There is always summer somewhere in the world. You just need to make it happen. In Dubai seems to be always summer. At least for me.
I was dreaming about this destination for long time. I am mostly attracted to beach places and islands and the idea of going to such place in the middle of the winter it’s crazy awsome.
…so I booked my flight to Dubai and so it started.
3 hours ahead Luxembourg, i arrived there quite late. At 9:00 pm. The flight reavealed something i have never seen before…is that snow?
Short after landing I had to get the visa (my first visa 🙂 ). Here my first surprise: the policeman held the entire conversation in romanian. And he was local for sure. I also asked him questions to be sure it is not a trick 🙂 but he managed it quite alright. The accent was not the best, but i am not complaing. Just want to emphasize he was not romanian.
Before my travel I started doing some research. I was reading all kind of things about this place. How men don’t talk to lonely women, about the strict dress code and much more, hence I was expecting to experience quite a cultural shock over there. Worst fear: to try to get a taxi and to be rejected because there is no man with me.
What did I find in Dubai? First of all, english is everywhere. If so far I was taking it for granted, recent experiences tought me how to appreciate it.
Nice people. Yes, really nice people. From foreigners living there or trying to make a living, to locals. And I was lucky enough to make a local friend who helped me descover amazing places. Thank you!
Because I have much more to tell about it, i am going to write multiple posts. To end this one, i am sharing the city seen from above and the story will go on:
